As Term 3 draws to a close, we give thanks to God for His goodness and faithfulness in guiding us through these past weeks. Each day has carried its own blessings and challenges, yet in it all, God has been with us.
His Word reminds us in Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
This verse encourages us that even when we feel weary, God renews our strength. As we finish this term, we can look back and celebrate the growth, learning, and community that has flourished. It is a reminder that our efforts are never in vain when placed in God’s hands.
Now, as we enter the holiday break, may this be a time of rest and refreshment, a chance to pause, to enjoy the company of loved ones, and to be renewed in spirit. Take time to notice God’s beauty in creation, to reflect on His blessings, and to prepare your heart for the opportunities of Term 4.
May God grant you peace, joy, and safe travels throughout the holidays. Wishing you a wonderful finish to Term 3 and a truly blessed break.

Uniform: In term 4, we have a two-week changeover period during which students can wear either winter or summer uniforms (not a combination of both). Uniform regulations are found HERE. Please note wording regarding hair colour, extreme styles and mullets.
Behaviour: Flinders primary school is committed to fostering a positive learning environment where students are ready to learn, respectful to all, and safe in class, outside, and online. Our behaviour continuum is designed to support these values and ensure a consistent approach to behaviour management. Using the link HERE, you can find our Primary school behaviour continuum.
2026 classes: Throughout Term 4, staff deliberate and evaluate many aspects to ensure classes are balanced for the new year. Considerations include academics, boy/girl ratios, friendships, additional needs, ILPs, behaviour and incoming students. Students always get 1 – 2 of the friends they include on their ‘friends list’. Occasionally, parents have additional insight we need to consider. If this is the case, please address in writing, to Adam Swain by Friday the 10th of October.
Have a great week.
Adam Swain

Term 3 and 4 Primary Nude Food Days:
Our school's Enviro Club is very happy to be introducing Nude Food Days to our wonderful Primary school! This was shared during the primary chapel on Tuesday, but for those of you who weren't there, we wanted to let you know what's going to be happening.
Every Monday, starting on the 8th of September, we encourage families to pack students' lunchboxes full of “Nude Food”, that is, food packed in reusable containers with no disposable packaging, wrappers, plastic bags, or cling film. Nude food helps reduce waste, keeps our school clean, and promotes sustainable behaviour in our younger generations.
Each Monday, the number of students who brought “Nude Food” from each class will be recorded, and the class with the highest rate of Nude Food across terms 3 and 4 will be declared our winner and receive a pizza party celebration!
We’re very excited about this new initiative and hope that our whole school community can get behind it and recognise its importance for both the school and our environment.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our school community,
The Enviro Club
PJ Day Thank You
In Term 2, our school held a fun PJ Day to support Backpack 4 Vic Kids, an Australian organisation that provides essential items to children in crisis. Together, we collected and donated 85 pairs of pyjamas, which will make a real difference to children in need.
A big thank you to all families for their generosity and support in helping us contribute to such a meaningful cause.
Secondary School
Update
Dear Flinders Families
We have had another wonderful 2 weeks at Finders, I would like to thank you and our staff for successful Parent, Teacher, Students interviews. A highlight was parents commenting on the positive acknowledgement system and how they love to hear their students are doing well.
As you are aware, I am passionate about systems that support a disciplined environment that allows staff to make exciting and engaging lessons. I would like to let you know that all foundational elements of our updated Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) system are update are now complete.
Its key elements are:
Called to Flourish Positive Behaviour Matrix
This gives direction on the positive behaviours we will acknowledge through our PC note positive acknowledgements system, house points and Flinders Values Awards.
Categorisation of Major and Minor Problem bBehaviours
This give teachers and students clarity on what behaviour will be teacher managed and what behaviour will be managed by school leadership.
Behaviour Response Continuum
This gives all stakeholders a clear process to follow when managing in class behaviour issue using follow the steps:
Callout Process for Supporting Teachers
Following a failed restorative or major behaviour, staff members will press the callout button which alerts leadership they need assistance who will respond immediately. This is to manage behaviour that interrupt the learning of other quickly and efficiently.
Supporting Processes
Other process that assists to create a disciplined safe environment are:
Entry and Exit process based on the teacher being the authority in the room Uniform process for students that are not in correct uniform Consequence processes, having lunch and afterschool detentions Restorative process to help structure the restorative conversation Monitoring process to help monitor behaviour issues across the school Escalation process for students who continue to break school rules A work hard focus, instilling the value of working hard in every lesson

Music
News
As we come to the end of another great term, the Music Department has once again been a busy and vibrant place. Our students have enjoyed their lessons and ensembles, and it has been wonderful to see their skills, confidence and love of music continue to grow.
This term also brings a moment of sadness for our department as we farewell our much-loved guitar teacher, Rob Anderson. After more than 20 years of dedicated teaching at Flinders, Rob has decided that now is the time to make a change. Over the years, he has inspired countless students, nurturing not only their guitar playing but also a lifelong love of music.
Rob will be hugely missed by students past and present, as well as by all of us in the music department. We are so grateful for his passion, his encouragement, and his commitment to music education, and we wish him all the very best for the next chapter.
We hope everyone has a restful holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone again for another action-packed term.
For any general inquiries or questions about our music programs, please feel free to contact Mrs. Linda Harris at musiccarrumdowns@flinders.vic.edu.au
Rock School Band Workshops - This School Holidays
There is still time to sign up for Rock School these coming holidays. Angela & Justin McLaren, two of our very talented IMT’s, are running their Rock School Band Workshops these holidays at Flinders.
Rock School was established to meet the growing need for young musicians to unite and experience the power and joy of collaboration. While individual lessons are crucial for developing foundational skills, true magic happens when musicians come together and combine their talents in a group setting.
Through guided group sessions, they form bands, engage in re-imagining songs, jamming and songwriting, while preparing an industry standard performance for a live audience.
Rock School is more than a music program; it’s a vibrant community where young musicians can grow, step out and express themselves creatively in a supportive environment.
This school holiday workshop is available to all secondary students and is a 4 day fully supervised and facilitated training with a live GIG on the final day.
